Based in Victoria Falls, two of the most popular cross-border add-ons are a day (or overnight) trip to Kasane, Botswana, or to Livingstone, Zambia. Both are reachable by road transfer, but they offer quite different experiences. Here's how to think about the choice.
Kasane, Botswana
Kasane sits on the Chobe riverfront and is the gateway to Chobe National Park, known for some of the largest elephant concentrations in Africa and river-based game viewing by boat. The crossing is via the Kazungula border, roughly 1.5–2 hours from Victoria Falls Airport. Choose Kasane if wildlife and a boat safari on the Chobe River are the priority.
Livingstone, Zambia
Livingstone is Zambia's tourism town on the northern bank of the Zambezi, home to the Zambian viewpoints of Victoria Falls, Livingstone Island, and riverfront hotels like the Royal Livingstone. The crossing is via the Victoria Falls border post, generally the shorter of the two routes at around 1–1.5 hours. Choose Livingstone if you want to see the Falls from the Zambian side, or add activities like Livingstone Island access (seasonal) or the historic Victoria Falls Bridge.
